Ice fishing is one of the most popular winter activities in South Korea, and the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival is a must on your things to do in Korea!
Enjoy a one-day trip from Casey to Hwacheon, Gangwon Province. The Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival is one of the most popular winter festivals in Korea. Have fun participating in various winter activities on a frozen river in Hwacheon, the first area to freeze in Korea. You can spot sancheoneo (mountain trout) under the river and fish for them through holes in the ice. Afterwards, you can get the fish grilled or filleted on-site to enjoy fresh mountain trout. Don't forget to visit the Indoor Ice Sculpture Square to check out spectacular artworks made of ice, combined with dazzling lights.
